A WOMAN from Barrow celebrated her landmark birthday by throwing a Disney villain-themed party.

Sian Doherty, who turned 21 on October 8, hosted the party at her university house in Salford.

Sian, who is in her final year at Leeds Beckett, said the idea of having a villain theme was easy because all of her friends love Disney.

She said:" I had a little celebration with my family on the weekend of my birthday which was good.

"The week after I had a big Disney party and the night was amazing.

"I invited my friends from Barrow and Leeds to come to my student accommodation in Manchester for a big party, it was great.

"Everyone came in Disney outfits and made a real effort - it was so good."

Neighbours in Manchester were given letters of pre-warning by Sian and her housemates prior to the party.

She said: I had to send out letters because I knew the party was going to be loud and a bit crazy.

"Luckily they were absolutely fine with it and it turned out to be a great party."

Sticking with the Disney theme, boyfriend Jordan Simm paid for Sian to have a tattoo of her favourite character.

Beauty and the Beast is Sian's most loved film, with villain Maleficent inked on Sian's leg.

She said her parents are big fans of the artwork.

She said: My mum loves it, she has tattoos too.

"We’re actually planning on getting matching ones at some point.

"My dad tried to wind me up about it, but I reckon he likes it deep down."

The journalism student said she is still a big child.

She said: "I grew up on Disney and always wanted secretly wanted the villains to win.

"They are the best films ever.

"Sleeping Beauty is up there along with Sword in the Stone and Moana.

"I don't know how you can't love Disney."

Sian is studying hard at Leeds Beckett, hoping to leave University with a 2:1 grade.

She mentioned that the party was a great way to relieve some stress.

She said: "Most of the people who came to the party are in their last year so it was a great opportunity to have a great weekend.
