1 HALF-TERM'S here and The Dock Museum at Barrow is holding a programme of workshops. On Wednesday, October 24, Karen Hall will be holding Spooky Craft workshops where participants will be designing and decorating spider webs on plates. The pop-in workshop will run from 11am with the final admission at 3pm. Tickets are available on the day. Also entering into the Hallowe'en spirit, Wetheriggs Animal Rescue returns on Thursday, October 25 with a selection of creepy animals for brave visitors to handle. The various sessions run from 10.30am and it's advised to buy tickets before the event.

2 BARROW Library invites youngsters to get creative with a digital tablet at its seriously spooky Hallowe'en half term digital crafting session on Tuesday, October 23 at 10.30am, for ages five-11. Elsewhere at Dalton Library on Thursday (10.30am-11.45am) those aged eight-12 can learn how to create a two player computer game using Kodu, the games development software from Microsoft. 3 DURING next week's school holiday, Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets at the Lake District Visitors Centre at Brockhole will be celebrating Hallowe'en with a few tricks up its sleeve. Throughout the week, the Mini Trek will be adorned with a few ghosts, ghouls and extra large spiders to make you jump along the way. Fearless trekkers who turn up in fancy dress are welcome to enjoy the magic spells of the 250m triple zip wire not just once, but twice. The Hallowe'en fancy dress big zip is back for the third year in a row, starting at 4pm on Hallowe'en itself; Tuesday, October 31. Proceeds will go towards the Teenage Cancer Trust North and Cumbria. 4 ACTIVITIES at Ulverston Library include on Monday, October 22, from 10.30am-11.30am, Autumn Rucksack of Rhymes, for up to age five, where those attending can sing songs, craft, listen to a story, and have a chat about leaves, conkers, and muddy puddles. Also, from 11.30am-12.30am, for ages four plus, a session to make a mobile and a collage taking inspiration from the poems of William Wordsworth. 5 DOVE Cottage at Grasmere has one of two half term treats up its sleeve such as Sticks, stones, leaves and cones: Eco Art which runs on Tuesday, October 23, from 2pm-4pm in its gardens surrounding countryside taking youngsters age three and upwards on a journey in the outdoors looking for natural materials that can be turned into art. Also, Twilight Tales on Thursday, October 25, 4pm-5.30pm. a pre-Halloween night to find out more about the spooky stories and hidden histories of the house and what it was like to live here over 200 years ago without modern comforts. There will be Grasmere Gingerbread and hot chocolate to enjoy, as well as the opportunity to dress up in Georgian clothes.
