Cumbria LEP has announced the second stage of its consultation on the county’s new Local Industrial Strategy.

The strategy will outline how the LEP will work in partnership with businesses and the public and voluntary and community sectors to deliver economic growth, prosperity and productivity improvements in Cumbria.

The aim is to flag up the county’s strengths to Government and the private sector for investment up to 2030.

Four consultation events were held earlier this year, and an outline draft is now being prepared for a further round of consultation at the end of October.

Cumbria LEP chief executive Jo Lappin said: “We are keen to hear from organisations, including businesses, councils, colleges, universities, schools, the NHS, the police, the fire service, charities and groups that represent particular sectors, such as advanced manufacturing, tourism, nuclear and agriculture.

“We are committed to making sure that the new Local Industrial Strategy is evidence-based and inclusive, with a long-term economic vision based on local consultation.

“It will set out how we can maximise Cumbria’s economic opportunities, increase productivity and address our key challenges.”

The second round of consultation events will take place at the LEP Conference & Business Centre in Penrith on October 31 and at The Queen Katherine School in Kendal on November 1.
