BARROVIANS were keen to grab their first taste of a new grilled cheese stall in the town's indoor market.

GRILLa Cheese opened its doors for the first time on Wednesday, with queues of eager foodies lining the entrance waiting to get their first cheesy delight.

People were queuing towards the entrance of the market - much to the delight of its owners, who said the town almost ate thee way through all the stocks.

Mandy Chubb, 45, co-owner said: “It was amazing, we were absolutely rushed off our feet.

“We were expecting a big turn out, but not one as large as this - we ran out of nearly everything.

“I was a chef for years, it felt like I was coming home - great to get my cheffing hat back on."

She added: “And the buzz was incredible, just awesome to see people enjoying our food and having a laugh."

Malcolm Lingard, 41, co-owner said: “The response was absolutely amazing.

“We served well over 160 sandwiches across the day and we even had to stay open for an extra two hours.

“We had all sorts of people coming down, people on their lunch, phone orders, passersby - the queues were so long that they were touching the sliding doors into the market.

“Moving forward we want to keep things a little slicker to cut waiting times, but we really appreciate people coming down and trying us out.”

“We really want to keep the buzz going so we are already thinking about more deliveries and pickup options, but we want to maintain the atmosphere of people heading down, getting some great food and enjoying the vibe.”

Jerry Berdman, on GRILLa Cheese's Facebook page, said: “Just had a New Yorker -the E-Cigman gives it a 2 big thumbs up - tastes great.”

Paul Wilson, also on Facebook said: “Just been in and had the Tyson Fury...wow, I’ll be back down...maybe this afternoon.”
