FOODIES looking for a cheesy fix are in for a real treat when a new venue opens today.

Owners of GRILLa Cheese, a new eatery at Barrow Market, hope to set tongues wagging in the town with the launch of Chubb’s Chilli Sauce.

Opening at stall 106, owners and friends Malcolm Lingard and Mandy Chubb, said they are looking forward to creating "a vibrant, funky atmosphere" offering "awesome food".

BAE Systems employee Malcolm, 41, said: "We are absolutely booming about the response we’ve had..

"It’s been a life long dream to run my own place.

“We are already to go, staff at hand and can’t wait to get things up and running.”

The inspiration for the project came from Malcolm’s trips to Manchester where he goes every month to run a radio show called ‘Twang’ on Manchester live.

On his breaks he would religiously go to a grilled cheese restaurant and from this he became determined to set up his own and bring grilled cheese back to Barrow.

Mr Lingard, of Dominiom Street, Walney, said: “We just wanted to create a vibrant, funky atmosphere for people to come down and relax and have a laugh with, as well as tasting some awesome food.”

The stall will be open from 9am until 3pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Co-owner and EE shop assistant Mandy Chubb, is an experienced chef and worked closely with Malcolm to create the range of flavours on offer.

The 45-year-old of Whitehead Street, Barrow, said: "Come on down to the grand opening of GRILLa Cheese, the home of Chubb’s Chilli Sauce.

“Try our cheesy chow that’s guaranteed to make you melt and educate your eardrums with some cool beats."

The menu will include combinations such as ‘Chicken Royale’, seasoned shredded chicken, pastrami, Gouda cheese and sauerkraut as well as others like ‘The Snoop’, which includes three different cheeses, roasted red peppers, pesto, caramelised onions and rocket. The pair also hope to run a monthly Man vs Food competition. For more information or to place an order call 07508 103940.
