The canal anchor festival got underway on Monday.
The event will run until October 28, with a sculpture trail being made.
It is to celebrate the history of the canal and present day development.
All anchors have been made at local schools, shops, groups and volunteers.
Children have been asked to write stories, poems or draw pictures to show “What the anchor saw.”
Each anchor is one metre high and will be displayed on a post along the towpath.
There is a trail sheet to find small anchors hidden amongst the tow path display.
