A MAN from Ulverston was bitten on the ankle by a dog while he was walking in the Lakes at the weekend.

Walker Patrick McIver reported he had been attacked by a dog at High Down, close to Finsthwaite to the west of Windermere, on Saturday.

Mr McIver shared a post on Facebook and appealed for anyone who knew the owners of the dogs to get in touch.

He said: "Anybody recognise this couple? Was just attacked by one of their dogs which were all off the lead. Nothing serious. Just sore, but people should be wary.

"Nothing by me to provoke it. Just came charging up the path growling and grabbed me by the ankle. On the basis of what appeared to be in their car I think one of them may be a lacrosse player. Was raging when I “spoke” to them so didn’t fully register accent but he is possibly American."
