AN inmate who assaulted a prison officer has seen his jail term extended.
David Brewer, 36, now of HMP Lindholme, Doncaster, and formerly of HMP Haverigg, assaulted Karen Riley in the Cumbrian prison on May 1.
After pleading guilty to the offence at South Cumbria Magistrates' on Court on October 11, Brewer was given a six-week prison sentence and forced to pay £100 in compensation and £85 costs.
He also admitted he damaged a body-worn camera owned by HMP Haverigg and worth almost £400 on the same day as the assault.
For that he received another six-week sentence, to be served concurrently.
