BARROW'S MP has backed comments made by the home secretary on tackling "county lines" drug dealing.
John Woodcock welcomed statements made by Sajid Javid on tackling the issue, which sees young drug dealers recruited to sell drugs across the country.
Writing in a national newspaper, Mr Javid said: “County lines are devastating communities across the lengths and breadth of the UK.
“That is why the government is taking action to disrupt these networks, bring the evil bosses who oversee them to justice and - above all else - keep our children safe.
In response Mr Woodcock said: “It is good to see the home secretary pledging tougher action on the evil county lines drug trade and we look forward to examining what changes he is planning to make.
“Young people are being effectively enslaved by drug barons who make them traffic drugs from big cities to provincial areas like Barrow. This evil trade is wrecking young lives."
