AS Storm Bronagh brought down more trees and blocked roads in south and west Cumbria this morning – a fresh weather warning is in place for Sunday into Monday.

A fallen tree was blocking the A591 at Low Wood Bay, between Windermere and Ambleside. The tree was removed by Cumbria Highways with assistance from the public.

Cumbria Roads Police had tweeted about the tree blocking the A591 and had asked for any local chainsaw owners to come forward to help.

The roads police team updated with a tweet saying: “A speedy response from Highways, Low Wood Bay Resort staff and the well timed lucky arrival of a local chainsaw owner, we’ve got one lane going and the second will follow soon.”

In the Millom area, a tree fell between Brockwood Hall and School Elis. This tree was in process of being moved.

The heavy rains also led to some localised flooding on the A590 between Ulverston and Newby Bridge for motorists to deal with.

The Environment Agency still has a Flood Alert in place for Upper River Derwent, Stonethwaite Beck and Derwent Water in the Lake District.

The Met Office has issued a new yellow weather warning for wind in Cumbria. The warning is for between 9am on Sunday and 9am on Monday.

The Met Office says there is potential for another very windy spell across parts of the UK on Sunday and into early Monday.
