THE latest in research projects into the early days of communities will be described at the annual convention of the Cumbria Local History Federation.

It is being held on Saturday, October 6, at the village hall in Newbigg, near Penrith, and includes talks on Kirkoswald, Martindale, Kirkby Thore and Angerton Moss, which links Kirkby Pool and the Duddon Estuary.

Angerton was first mentioned in the Coucher Book of Furness Abbey in 1293.

The moss was crossed by the Furness Railway in the 1840s as part of the coastal link from Barrow to Millom.
