A WALK to explore the coastal ecology of a town will take place next month.

Art Gene and Natural England will be hosting a joint event at Earnse Bay on the west side of Walney to offer walkers the chance to see the area's flora and fauna.

Among the sights will be waders, sea birds and shoreline disturbances.

A guided walk will be led by Natural England’s ornithological expert John Osborne, North Walney National Nature Reserve's site manager.

Setting off from Earnse Bay car park at 11am, an easy walk will be led along the coastal path to find the best viewing points.

Mr Osborne will share his wealth of experience in identifying waders and other seabirds and will talk out about their "fascinating" feeding habits as the species get ready for winter migration. His talk finishes at 11.45 pm.

Two powerful telescopes will be available so people can get the best views as the incoming tide brings the birds closer to the shore.

Hot drinks will be provided at the end and interested parties can drop at any time between 12pm and 2pm to the bird watching station at Earnse Bay.

To book a place on the walk call John Osborne on 07967 971 523 or email Eve Mulholland on eve.mulholland@art-gene.co.uk
