A RECOVERING alcoholic who stole a £6 bottle of wine from a Dalton off-licence has been given "one last chance".

Mark Andrew Martin, of Low White Close in Barrow, pleaded guilty to theft at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old, who has 22 previous convictions for theft, stole the wine from McColls on August 24.

Presiding magistrate Chris Harris said: "We are going to give you one last chance."

Martin was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.
