Unseen artwork unveiled

A TURNER Prize-winning artist from Cumbria is to exhibit never seen before paintings.
More than 20 pictures from Keith Tyson’s Nature Paintings series will be on show at Tullie House in Carlisle from September 20.
Tyson, who studied at Carlisle’s former institute of the arts – now part of the University of Cumbria – has been working on the series since 2006 and many of the pieces have not yet been exhibited anywhere in the world.
The paintings illustrate Tyson’s interest in the random nature of our universe. Their forms and colours are determined by the reactions between specially mixed paints and chemicals which are poured at different angles and temperatures onto an aluminium or glass surface. Arts Council England has provided financial support through Grants for the Arts. Admission is free to the gallery, which opens 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and midday to 5pm on Sunday.
