100ft deep flood hole on view

THE middle of Barrow has got a big new hole in it now that United Utilities has completed a multi million pound tank.

It has been dug as part of the ongoing £14m flood prevention scheme to stop basement areas including the library flooding after exceptional rain storms.
Excess water will run into the tank from a new relief sewer bored under Abbey Road until it can be drained away normally.
