Group clubs together to give money to young firefighters

A CHILDREN’S group has received a generous donation.

Each year the group teaches groups of children how to use hoses and other firefighting equipment.
At the end of the three month scheme all participants are awarded a certificate that can give them a helping hand in gaining employment in the future.
Lead instructor at the scheme Mike Dobson said: “We really appreciate any donations we get, we are not charity based but we receive little funding from the council.
“I would like to say a massive thank you to the club for the donation.
“We run a 12-week course every Monday night from September to December and teach the kids life skills, it’s all about confidence building.
“It keeps them off the streets during the winter months and shows them a lot about team work.”
