A MILLOM brewer has won a top award for his booze.
By Sam Walker
David Taylor’s brew, Black Dog Freddy Mild, took first prize in the mild category at this year’s Great British Beer Festival.
Mr Taylor’s beer also came away from the glitzy London bash with the silver medal for Best British Beer of the Year.
Mr Taylor, who is based in The Green, near Millom, said: “I’m absolutely shell-shocked by the whole thing, it is totally unbelievable, it is a very popular beer.
“I sell it out of a few pubs in the area, the Punch Bowl in The Green, The Plough Inn in Millom, the King’s Head in Broughton and the Stan Laurel in Ulverston.
“I have a good chance of being picked to compete next year and I have won a few local beer festivals too.”
American beer the Angel’s Share won top prize in the Best Beer of the Year.
The Great British Beer Festival is run by the Campaign for Real Ale.
