Teens help with community mural
Last updated at 16:24, Tuesday, 22 July 2008
A COMMUNITY mural at Swarthmoor recreation ground has been completed.
The teenagers designed and planned the mural with the help of community artist Shelley Barlow. The probation service in Barrow helped out with the preparation of the site and the local Brownie pack was also invited along to participate in the project.
PCSO Madden said: “The main idea of the project was to promote the image of the local teenagers in a positive light and for them to be involved in a worthwhile project, which would enhance the area and the whole community would enjoy.”
The workshops were held on Thursday and Friday nights throughout June and funding was obtained from Bramall Community Awards, Respect Campaign/Chief Constables Property fund (Cumbria Police), the Neighbourhood Forum, Park Road Garage and Pennington Parish Council.
