LOCAL film-makers Reach for the Dream were overwhelmed when around 100 people turned out to see the premiere of their latest horror flick, The Bed at the Canteen media and arts centre in Barrow.

Craig Brown and Shaun Hayton were inspired to put on the special night on July 2 after The Bed won Best Film at The Monster Movie Challenge in Wolverhampton.
“We’ve never won anything before despite entering loads of independent competitions.” said Mr Hayton.
He added: “We thought we’d make an event of it, give everyone a good night and raise some money for charity at the same time. We were so nervous beforehand, we didn’t know if anyone would even turn up!”
The Bed tells the story of a man (played by Mark Johnson) desperate to buy a bed with only £20 to spend.
He finally buys one from a strange shopkeeper (played by Seamus Doran) only to be tormented by terrible nightmares when he sleeps in it.
Thanks to donations and a raffle, the night raised £510 for The Bluebell Foundation, which supports people who have suffered the loss of a baby, infant or child during pregnancy or after birth.
Barrow Mayor, councillor Dave Roberts, who attended the event with the Mayoress, said: “We’ve had a fantastic night, it’s the first time we’ve been to the pictures for years, the first time we’ve been to one with a bar and it’s the first time it was free. Through Reach for the Dream, I’ve met the Bluebell Foundation team and heard about the good work they do. I’ll be putting them down as one of the Mayor’s charities.”
The DVD is available for free from Pepperland in Buccleuch St, Fat Bobs Videos in the Indoor Market, The Computer Store on Cavendish Street.
