Choir found in the bar

All kinds of things are regularly left in bars – from mobile phones to door keys – but a picture of a church choir is not what you might expect.
UNUSUAL FIND: All kinds of things are regularly left in bars – from mobile phones to door keys – but a picture of a church choir is not what you might expect. This picture of members of St Luke’s choir, Barrow, in September 1954, was found by a workman during clearance work on the former Travellers Rest Club on Abbey Road. On the back are all the names but no clue to the location or why the picture was taken. Shown, from left, are vicar’s daughter Rachael Stewart, Fat Taylor, Geoffrey Eddowes, Peter Kane, Barrow rugby player Jackie Lloyd, vicar’s son Nigel Stewart, Emrys, Alan Johnson (whose father Charlie kept the White Lion on Mount Pleasant), Peter Kane, vicar the Reverend H.C Stewart, Alan Jaques and Jean Torrance. Can you shed any light on how the choir ended up in a bar?
