Christopher Mark Eagers, a 29-year-old primary school teacher and former Thorncliffe pupil from Barrow, married 27-year-old Lam Yan Ki, who comes from Hong Kong and also goes by the English name Maggie, in a stunning oriental wedding on Saturday August 6.

How they met: The couple were both working as teachers at an international kindergarten in Hong Kong when they got talking. Chris asked her to go for a walk along the Hong Kong seafront and they have been inseparable ever since.

Proposal: Chris proposed to Maggie on Christmas Day 2014.

Venue: The ceremony and the reception both took place at Abbey House Hotel, Barrow.

Theme: A Chinese-British fusion. The colour red was prominent throughout the wedding because it is a lucky colour for Chinese people.

Bride's outfit: The bride wore three dresses on her wedding day. She was married in a traditional white wedding gown, then changed in to traditional Chinese dress to take part in traditional activities and for the evening Maggie wore a stunning crimson gown.

Groomsmen’s names:Martin Park (best man), Russ Clark, Andrew McGloughlin, Si Ben Jim, Lam Pui Fung and Hui Pui Hei.

Bridesmaids’ names: Janet Chan (maid of honour) and Virginia Bo.

Flowers: Stunning arrangements of peonies and David Austin roses by Deborah's The Florist, Barrow.

Favours: The couple gave away Chinese favours of bamboo steamers and sets of chopsticks. There were two pairs of chopsticks for each guest, one emblazoned with a picture of a dragon and one with a phoenix. This is a tradition in China because the dragon and phoenix are always paired together.

Cake: A four-tier confection of Chocolate sponge, lemon drizzle, salted caramel and carrot cake, topped with real peonies and roses. It was created by Sugar Pie, Barrow.

First Dance: I Can't Help Falling in Love With You - Elvis Presley.

Entertainment: A local ceilidh band followed by a DJ.

Honeymoon: The couple visited London and Paris along with their families.
