Askam lad Christopher Todd, a 31-year-old commissioning project leader at BAE, married Emma Richardson, a 29-year-old self-employed beauty therapist, originally from Newport in Wales, in a stunning winter ceremony on Saturday October 15, 2016.

The pair, who now live together in Swarthmoor, met rather unconventionally through social media. Chris spotted Emma through a friend's Facebook pictures. He added her, as he was intrigued by her and a few days later Emma messaged him.

The pair messaged constantly for about a week until Emma demanded a date. Chris was more than happy to oblige and the pair went out to meet for a few drinks. The rest is history...

Proposal: The proposal occurred during a holiday in Hurgarda in Egypt. Emma and her friends were always asking when Chris was going to make an honest woman of her. During a romantic meal, Emma commented again about just when Chris would propose. At that point Chris told Emma that he would and slowly crouched down on one knee, presenting a sparkling diamond ring. Emma burst in to tears, and said yes.

This performance really got the guests in the spirit and the party started early. The singers then performed another set as the night do guests arrived and continued with a disco set.
