A young personal trainer and entrepreneur has taken his passion for fitness one step further - by developing his own range of supplements.

We are constantly encouraged to support locally sourced meat, veg and crafts and now the fitness enthusiasts in our area will be able to buy their protein locally too.

Henry Armer, 28, the owner of Henry Armer Fitness in Brogden Street, Ulverston, has unveiled a new range of products in his Protein King line.

The logo for his new range includes a muscular lion and many of the products have animal-themed names which he hopes will encourage people to get to the gym.

As a nod to his south Cumbrian roots, Mr Armer has even added a unique Cartmel sticky toffee pudding flavour to his protein repertoire to join classics such as chocolate, vanilla, strawberries and cream, mint choc chip and cookies and cream.

Mr Armer said: "It's been a goal of mine for a long time to start my own line of supplements.

"The industry can be a bit of a minefield for potential new customers. When I first got into weight training I got told so many different things about what supplements I should use."

If you work out in the gym and have made the decision to start using supplements, you may have been shocked by the prices. If you want bigger muscles it seems as if you need to pay through the nose to get them.

This was something Mr Armer felt keen to address for his clients. He said: "As with most other people I ended up overpaying for a product that wasn't really the best thing for me. I have worked closely with my manufacturer to make sure that the products we have created have been made so we can offer the right products at the best prices.

"I think we've created a great brand that is fun but professional. We've had some great feedback on how our brand looks and how good our products taste."

More women are using protein and other supplements too. The Protein World Slender Blend, famous for the controversial advertising campaign 'Are you beach body ready?' in 2015, has shifted a lot of focus onto supplements and meal replacements for women. Mr Armer's range includes the creatively named Lioness Unleashed which is specially designed for female clients. Lined up next to Wrath of the Beast and Kings Pride.

Mr Armer said: "I feel that we've worked hard to get a good start to the range so that we offer something for everyone.

"Whatever your goal or training level we have a product that can help push you on to hit those targets. I have so many different clients of various weights and ages but in the gym we just want everybody to feel at home and like one big family."

The Protein King brand already has the following of professional athletes such as bodybuilder Sam Burrows. Mr Armer said: "Sam has had a great year this year on the bodybuilding stage. He came second in Mr Wales, which led him to compete in the The National Amateur BodyBuilders' Association UK finals where he was placed fourth.

"We are looking forward to working alongside Sam and seeing how our products can help him come back even better next year."

Mr Burrows says he will now use Protein Products exclusively. Hee said: "After placing on both the Wales and UK stage in my first year competing, I'm very excited to be able to use Protein King products to fuel my development and bring an even better physique next year."

Mr Armer is looking forward to further extending the range in the next few months.
