MONSTER Monster and the Homegrown DJs continue their reign of terror with a frighteningly good line-up for this year's Halloween spooktacular.

Expert producer Ed Solo, the highly-regarded MC Longman, and deadly duo Phibes have been called upon to conjure up some of the most evil electronic music in existence at a huge party in Ulverston next weekend.

Taking over the Coronation Hall on Saturday 31, the two local collectives and their guests are preparing for a creepy carnival, the likes of which have rarely been seen in South Cumbria.

Monster Monster has been the leading name in indoor parties across the region for more than a decade, and their regular events more often than not feature an assortment of zombies, ninjas, aliens, vampires, robots, angels, demons, punks and goths.

Founder and main man Dave Crossley has thus far welcomed the likes of Dub Pistols, Sub Focus, Craig Charles and Utah Saints to pack out venues across Cumbria and appeared at festivals all over the UK, including Sonisphere and Kendal Calling.

For the same length of time, the Homegrown DJs have been bringing together the performers and DJs of the Furness peninsula under a banner of peace, unity and parties.

Jamie Graham and Ian Chatfield have shared the decks with the likes of DJ Yoda, Scratch Perverts, and the Freestylers over the past 10 years.

They all come together next Saturday for a genre-bending mash-up of ghettofunk and jungle, among other things, joined by some of their very favourite DJs.

Ed Solo cut his teeth at the controls in the mid-90s by engineering for the likes of Black Twang, Elizabeth Troy and Roots Manuva. Performing at some of the most prestigious festivals going, including Glastonbury and Boomtown, his new album, Bounce 'n' Shake , features tracks currently being championed by the likes of Rudimental and Radio One.

Manchester's MC Longman is one of the hottest talents on the drum 'n' bass scene. A member of the renowned North Base collective, he has performed regularly at Fabric in London, Warehouse Project in Manchester, and at the Red Bull Music Academy.

Made up of brothers Ryan and Scott, Phibes have been consistently igniting dancefloors across the South West for a while now, have recently caught the attention of two major labels in the mid tempo scene, Breakbeat Paradise Records and Radical Mixtape Recordings.

All three acts bring plenty to the party, which will also include appearances from Samba drum band and festival regulars The Deatbeats.

Dave Crossley, aka Mister Monster, says: "Our debut gig at the Coronation Hall with Mouse Outfit went down a treat which is why we are back for this Halloween special and hope to do no more in the future.

"For this party we are putting a lot of work into the layout, decor and lighting of the room in order to create a more intimate and club like feel. All the usual Monster extras can be expected such as lasers, dancers, circus performers, live visuals, and full club decor, all with a Halloween vibe."

The event runs from 8pm and tickets are available in advance from the Coronation Hall, The Sun Inn in Market Street, Ulverston, and All-Style Tattoos in Crellin Street, Barrow.
