NOT all animals who find themselves homeless and in a shelter are unwanted.

Sadly many have been much loved pets who owners have had to give up because of a change in circumstance, whether financial, health issues or even when there has been a death in the family.

Lindy is the perfect example of due to a change in health her very upset owner was finally forced to give her up.

At the age of six, this wonderfully friendly tabby loves people and is very calm and relaxed despite finding herself in a animal charity shelter.

You can tell she has been much loved because of her attitude, but unfortunately her owner suffers from asthma and has been forced to give her up.

He has had her since she was a kitten.

Animal Welfare is confident this totally loveable moggy will be snapped up pretty quickly.

Peter is a bit of a character with a beautiful soft semi-long black and white coat.

Apparently he is not that fond of children, but is perfectly okay with adults.

Again he has been a much loved cat and this young adult is in perfect health, but needs to be in an a home with adults.

Denzel has not been in the shelter in Rawlinson Street Barrow very long and had only been neutured the day before his photograph was taken so all in all he was not a happy lad.

He came in with his brother Denzel and the pair had not been getting on in their home so they came to Animal Welfare.

His carers are confident he will settle nicely into a new home where possibly he would be an only cat, but now that he and his brother Sock's have both been neutured they will be less competitive with other cats.

He is another healthy black and white cat who given a chance to get to know a new home and new family would make a lovely family pet.

They are only 14 months old and would make lovely pets.

Tinka is the sister of Peter, but could not be more different.

Both Tinka and Peter came from a home where they were much loved but they could not be kept and have come into care.

Tinka is slightly timid but good with people - both adults and children - and they are not close so can be rehomed separately.
