A HOST of the UK’s top underground acts are heading for the shores of Windermere for the return of the Fell Foot Sound festival.

Starting on Friday, the event brings together some of the country’s most interesting and exciting bands to an unrivalled and unique location.

Camping passes and individual tickets are still available for the three-day festival, with the opening day getting under way from 6pm.

Highly-rated Leeds indie rock band Menace Beach headline the first night, and the revolving line-up, which has included members of Sky Larkin and Pulled Apart By Horses, will be showing why they have been hotly-tipped by BBC 6Music over the three years they've been going. The rest of the Friday main stage line-up includes; fellow Yorkshiremen Seize The Chair; Glasgow outfit Three Blind Wolves; long-running rockers Engine; young alt band Jasper House; and another Leeds act, New Woman.

Saturday's main stage activities start from 4pm, with The Guardian favourites The Wave Pictures leading the line-up. The well-established rock act are joined by pop duo The Lovely Eggs, post-punkers Fever Dream, DIY math band Cattle, solo artist John Joseph Brill, and unique covers outfit The Wednesday Club, as well as Biscuithead & The Biscuit Badgers, and Hank Haint, for an eclectic and packed day of live music.

Electronic producer collaboration Capua Collective round out the festival on Sunday evening, with rock 'n' rollers ZoZo, US folk performer Marty O'Reilly and Bathymetry - who recently supported The Jesus and Mary Chain - also appearing earlier in proceedings, which start at 11am.

Throughout the weekend, a number of acoustic-based acts will also be playing on the Wandering Folk Stage, including Lilac's Daughter, Simon Widdowson, Pip Mountjoy, and Olivia Naio.

Tickets for the festival can be booked via fellfootsound.net or by calling the campsite at Fell Foot Wood directly on 015395 31014.
