In a world where everything remotely interesting can not be properly appreciated unless it is immediately recorded on Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter or Facebook, online bloggers are becoming our modern day A-listers.

Fashion bloggers in particular seem to have the sort of life many girls could only dream about - being sent free clothes and shoes, posing for glamorous photo shoots and being wined and dined in the most coveted eateries and bars.

Former Dowdales pupil Aoife Cooksey, who lived at 1 Bolton Avenue, Dalton, relocated to Surrey after completing her GCSEs and, after working hard to claw her way up the fashion ladder, now has her dream job on lock down.

Aoife, 19, moved to live near London with her parents when she was 16 to pursue her dream of a career in performing arts. She began studying drama and working with the National Theatre, but at the same time set up her own little fashion and lifestyle blog.

Now studying for a Fashion Marketing degree in central London, Aoife's blog has gone from strength to strength, enabling her to blog as her full-time job. She said: "I have been blogging full time for about six months now. It took me two years to establish myself and I love everything about it."

People might wonder exactly what a fashion blogger does every day, but just because the lifestyle seems glamorous it is still fast-paced and very taxing work. Aoife said: "My day usually consists of photoshoots, meetings and liaising with new brands. There is a lot of emphasis put on networking too, I am always catching up with other bloggers. In this game you really have to keep your finger on the pulse, you need to watch what all of the other bloggers are doing, find out what is a success and how you can tap in to the market.

"Even though I love studying for my degree I am not in any rush to graduate, I would just like to see where this journey takes me and keep building up my following. I do plan to go in to Youtube blogging soon as that is huge at the moment"

Aoife now receives clothing from independent brands who work with Topshop and has worked with online retail giants like Boohoo. When it comes to organising photoshoots to promote her endorsed brands, Aoife likes to keep it very classy, she said: "I love to shoot in central London, there is so much scope to create amazing pictures. My favourite place is probably Chelsea as the clean, white backdrop of Georgian houses looks beautiful for clothing shoots."

Blogging is now such a huge part of youth culture that fitness, fashion and travel bloggers are becoming just as well known as singers, actors and sport stars. Apps like Instagram are worth billions of dollars but social media has been a lot of criticism in the media recently too. Bloggers have been accused of fabricating an unattainably perfect life and of promoting an unhealthy body image that is damaging for girls who follow them. Aoife said: "I realise that the use of social media can be controversial but I personally love it. Through social media and blogging you can market yourself whatever way you like. You become your own brand and I see everybody as a brand that can be marketed.

"My blog is aimed at younger girls so I am very aware that I am a role model and that everything I do and say will come under scrutiny. However, I think that real life girls are better role models than supermodels or singers because they are more down to earth. Endorsement from bloggers now seems to be preferable to big brands than celebrity endorsements for that exact reason - because they engage more with every day girls and women. I am just an ordinary girl from a small town and so it shows that anything can be possible."

Aoife credits much of her success to her parents who moved down South with her when she chose a career in performing arts. They sold their diner Mustang Sally's that was situated on Dalton Road in Barrow and now the family live together in Surrey. She also praised the performing arts department at Dowdales school which she claimed were hugely supportive about her ambition. She regularly visits her schools friends in the Lake District and recently brought a few of her blogging friends from London to experience to natural beauty of Walney beach.
