In the approach to wedding and prom season we take a look at the key hair and beauty trends trends for Summer 2016.

Model turned make-up artist Stefanie Grisdale, 26, of Rusland Crescent, Ulverston, has recently opened up her own business doing freelance make-up and hair for weddings, proms and nights out.

Even though Ulverston already has 27 hair and beauty salons Miss Grisdale is already in high demand, having booked in 15 wedding appointments in just her first season and receiving weekly requests for high-glamour night time looks.

With prom season also in the offing, teenage girls and brides alike will be trawling through online blogs for the latest beauty looks.

There is still a massive buzz around the art of contouring, after the technique was championed by social media queen Kim Kardashian.

The contouring look uses highlighting and lowlighting on the planes of the face to create a more chiseled look.

However, there are plenty of trends coming in this Summer that involve a fresher approach.

Miss Grisdale said: "I am really happy that a bohemian look is coming through again for Summer.

"A lot of the make-up in Vogue this season has an outdoorsy glow, for example in the Vera Wang and Tommy Hilfiger campaigns.

"The trend is accompanied by a number of flower head pieces to go with them, bridal headdresses seem to be taking a step away from veils now and going in a more natural and rustic direction.

"I will be doing a lot of bohemian summer looks for brides and I am learning how to create head dresses to take with me.

"The classic look of light, boho-waves will never go out of style and they will always look great in wedding photos.

"When it comes to prom make-up there is a bit of a 1980s vibe this year. A cherry red lip is always popular but I have also seen a bright blue eye-lining trend coming through for girls who want to try something a little more daring."

Miss Grisdale works with brands such as Estée Lauder, Mac, Dior and Morph and uses a popular celebrity contour palette called the 'Anastasia Beverley Hills' set.

After having modeled herself, Miss Grisdale saw what fun it could be working as a hair and make-up artist and decided it would be a good business to juggle with her two children. She said: "I still get a lot of demand for a heavily contoured and bronzed look for nights out but for my brides I would much rather work with a fresh-faced look.

"The no-make-up look is much more difficult to achieve than you would think, but using products like Mac strobe cream gives you a beautiful glow all day long.

"So far I have worked with a lot of brides who have never even worn make-up so my advice would always be to have a trial run and be as fresh-faced as possible."

On our model Tasha, Miss Grisdale followed a classic Kim Kardashian look. With central parted hair, heavy contouring and bronzed eyes ringed with winged liner and strip lashes this look is one of the most glamorous.

With so many beauty bloggers and celebrities going for strong beauty looks there is more and more demand for professional beauty looks in South Cumbria. For an at-home contouring tutorial watch Miss Grisdale's technique on our Evening Mail website at: www.nwemail.co.uk.
