AN eclectic line-up of well-known comedians and highly-rated new acts will feature at the latest Duke of Comedy stand-up showcase night.

The Duke of Edinburgh, in Barrow, hosts the fortnightly event on Thursday 20, with five top names set to visit.

MC for the night will be Chris Tavner. Warm and engaging, his sets cover everything from current affairs to the family, and his observational style ranges from dry wit to the completely absurd. A member of ComedySportz, the leading professional improvised comedy troupe in the North West, his background understandably means that compering is a particular strength, and he is the resident MC for Funtime Comedy.

Simon Lomas opens the show. Despite only starting stand up in September 2015, he is already regarded as one of the most refreshing and exciting new acts on the circuit, winning titles such as New Comedian of the Year at Southport Comedy Festival and the Great Yorkshire Fringe, and he was a finalist in the English Comedian of the Year 2017.

Eccentric storyteller Ash Preston also features on the bill. Known for his high energy style, that compliments any line-up he appears on, he has performed all over the country and also appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Chris Jones, who has been gigging for three years all over the UK and in the US, Canada, Australia and France, and has around 250 gigs under his belt, is another one to watch.

Headlining the night is a familiar face from the UK comedy circuit, and also on TV, Seymour Mace.

A Fosters Award-nominated comedian, Seymour is critically acclaimed and admired by comedians across the UK. Following a stint in the mid-nineties as a professional clown in Tokyo, Seymour began performing stand up comedy in 2001. Since then he has taken his act across the globe including countries like China, Japan, Greece, Australia, Canada, Germany, Norway, Canada and even in Benidorm for a Johnny Vegas special gig.

Seymour has been a regular on TV, popping up in cult sitcoms such as Hebburn and Ideal.

Next Thursday's show starts at 8pm, and tickets are available in advance via www.ticketsource.co.uk
