TV star Alistair McGowan will be hosting a live show in Barrow tomorrow night, based around his favourite piano music.

Mixing comedy, impressions and piano, the performance at The Forum also sees him teaming up with Ulverstonian Anthony Hewitt to perform some of their favourite pieces, including works by Satie, Debussy, Grieg, Evans and Gershwin.

Alistair McGowan is best known for his hit TV show The Big Impression but has lately developed his passion for the piano resulting in the unexpected commercial and critical success of his recent CD, The Piano Album, which reached number one in the Specialist Classical Chart.

In 2016, he wrote a one-man show called Erik Satie's-faction, which he took to the Edinburgh Festival. An assembly of Satie's words and music, it saw McGowan making his piano-playing debut and followed on from an appearance at The Proms (as Satie) in A Satie Cabaret, alongside pianist Alexandre Tharaud. Last year, he released The Piano Album through Sony Classics, which saw him playing 17 short pieces of classical piano music.

Here he forms an irresistible double-act with his mentor the internationally-renowned classical pianist and Ulverston International Music Festival artistic director Anthony Hewitt, who makes his debut at The Forum.

Tomorrow’s show starts at 7.30pm, and tickets are available from The Forum’s box office.
