Lake District self-catering complex sold for £1.1m

A self-catering complex in the heart of the Lake District has been sold for more than £1 million.

Parkergate at Bassenthwaite, near Keswick, has been sold to the Civil Service Motoring Association (CSM) for £1.175m

The sale has been handled by Colliers International, acting on behalf of Jane and Ian Phillips.

They are retiring from the hospitality industry to live close by.

Haydn Spedding, associate director hotels at Colliers International Manchester, said: “With a total of three offers received for the property, close to the asking price, the sale of Parkergate illustrates the continuing confidence in the hospitality industry in Cumbria and the Lake District.”

The house was originally built in 1767 as a working Lakeland farm, with a barn added in 1859.

Its conversion to self-catering use was completed in the 1990s.

Parkergate has six self-catering units with potential for further extension subject to the appropriate permissions.
