The Lake District Farmers Armstrong Family Charitable Fund is the idea of Barrow businessman and philanthropist Ray Armstrong and Dan Austin, managing director of Lake District Farmers.
Mr Austin, 25, organised the One Week Only culinary extravaganza, attracting some of Britain’s top chefs to the five-night event at Clarence House in Dalton last month.
The chefs’ event was such an outstanding success that Mr Armstrong, 52, wanted to ensure community groups, organisations and local good causes from across Barrow and Furness, Ulverston and South Lakes, and Millom and South Copeland, benefit.
For the next two years, The Lake District Farmers Armstrong Family Charitable Fund, working in conjunction with the North West Evening Mail, will give away £1,000 each month to a good cause.
Applicants can fill out the form below, saying why their group deserves the money and what it will be spent on.
On the first Monday of every month, the Evening Mail will reveal which group has won the £1,000 donation, and launch the next month’s applications.
Ray Armstrong, managing director of PKA, said: “I was overwhelmed at the people of Barrow’s support for this culinary event. I look forward to local charities benefiting from a donation of £1,000 a month over the next two years.”
At the end of last year, Lake District Farmers presented a cheque for £2,500 to Wendy McClure to support the Barrow Foodbank and also recently donated £2,500 to the Ostley House Home For The Blind.
