A TOTAL of 150 student volunteers made up the ‘School Games Crew’ at the Cumbria School Games at Carlisle and joined the workforce for the day taking up various roles from umpiring to team management to marshalling.

Sally Hill, teacher at Cartmel Priory School, was delighted with the leadership skills gained by her group of 12 volunteers, aged 13 and 14, from the school who officiated at the golf tournament.

“I am so proud of the way they took control and organised the competitors. It is superb for their confidence and developing their leadership skills,” she said.
