HEIDI Jane Sharkey, a 25-year-old teaching assistant from Durham, married Thomas Lee Donkin, a 24-year-old chef from Ulverston, on December 1, 2012.
How they met: The couple met working together at a pub in Ulverston.
Proposal: The couple got engaged on their daughter, Grace’s, first birthday on November 29, 2010.
Venue: Abbey House Hotel, Barrow, for the ceremony and the evening reception.
Theme: Yellow and stars.
Bride’s outfit: The bride wore a stunning ivory dress with diamante detail on the front.
Groomsmen: Best man was Dane Stoddart, father-of-the-bride was Kenneth Sharkey and father-of-the-groom was Sean Donkin. They wore grey/silver suits with a yellow tie and yellow rose buttonhole. The page boy, Riley Matthews, wore a suit with matching yellow tie and buttonhole.
Bridesmaids: The bride’s sister, Helen Rudd, was maid of honour and wore a long yellow dress with diamante detail.
Bridesmaids were the couple’s daughter, Grace, and Alisha Donkin, the couple’s eldest niece. They wore matching yellow fairy dresses with flower wands and fairy wings. The couple’s youngest niece, Ruby-Mae Donkin, was a flower girl.
Flowers: The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of yellow roses and the maid of honour carried a similar bouquet with ivory roses. The bridesmaids had flower wands decorated with yellow and ivory roses. Buttonholes were provided for all the guests in ivory for the men and yellow for the women.
Transport: The bride was transported to Abbey House in her father’s car, decorated with ivory and yellow bows, accompanied by her mother, father and two bridesmaids, Grace and Alisha. The groom travelled with the best man.
Table settings: The tables were set with white table cloths and yellow organza runners. Balloons were provided by Sharon’s Balloons and each table centre had a cluster of three balloons with a star weight. Name place settings were held in star holders and wine glass charms were added to the wine glasses on the tables.
Favours: The men received a bottle opener in the shape of a bow tie and the women received a compact mirror decorated with butterflies. The children each received a favour box containing bubbles, sweets, colouring books, balloons and other things to keep them entertained.
Cake: The cake was a three tier, white cake decorated with daisy details. On the top was a crystal statue of two love birds swinging inside a heart.
First dance: Your Song by Ellie Goulding.
Entertainment: Dancemasters UK provided the DJ on the evening.
Honeymoon: The couple have booked to go to Spain in the Easter holidays.
Photographer: Sue Worthington, a family friend, did a fantastic job of the photography during the morning. Dancemasters UK provided a photographer for the evening reception.
