Search for missing Barrow man

THE MISSING persons organisation has released posters as part of their efforts to find a 24-year-old Barrow man who went missing after going to a party.
Police are continuing their efforts to find Mr Antoniou but say there have been no developments.
They have been searching the local area in and around Walney Channel, especially the Jubilee Bridge, after indications from his mobile phone placed him in that area.
Detective Chief Inspector Bob Qazi said: “We are using every means possible to search for Lewis. This is totally out of character for him and his family and friends are very concerned about him.
“We have appealed for people to check outbuildings, sheds and garages in the Walney area to see if there is any recent sign of activity. We have also appealed for anyone who owns a boat on the Walney Channel to check to see if Lewis may have gone aboard for safety.
“We are supporting his family at this very difficult time and we are all hoping that we find Lewis safe and well.”
Divers from the Northwest Underwater Search and Marine Unit trawled through docks yesterday, and the Barrow RNLI has searched the Walney Channel.
A statement from the family of Mr Antoniou said: "Lewis is a happy and successful young man with the brightest possible future ahead.
"He has an enviably wonderful group of friends around him both in Barrow and in Scotland. Everything in his life has begun to fall perfectly in to place and we all need our lovely Lewis back."
Police are appealing to members of the public who may have seen Mr Antoniou in the area to contact them immediately. He is described as white, slim build, 6 ft 4” tall, with short, dark-brown, wavy hair. He has a Scottish accent.
When he was last seen, he was wearing a royal blue Hollister polo t-shirt, straight leg dark blue jeans and white converse Allstar trainers.
Anyone with any information about the whereabouts of Mr Antoniou is asked to ring Cumbria Police on 101 immediately and speak to Barrow Police Station.

Have your say
I PRAY LEWIS IS FOUND SAFE AND WELL. HIS GRANDDAD IN CYPRUS IS MY CLOSE FRIEND AND HE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME ABOUT LEWIS. MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY
I was out for a beer tonight with friends and on the way to the Vickerstown Institute from the Ferry was approached by a man in hi-vis asking whether I'd seen Lewis the week before.Unfortunately not. But whilst talking to the guy (turned out to be his cousin) another man came over to speak to us. This turned out to be Lewis's dad. Having spent a good 20 mins speaking to him about what was going on I (as a father myself)am at a loss to purvey the effort that his family and friends have gone to to find ANY leads into his whereabouts after the party.
As a parent, I really hope that all turns out well but hope that any sighting no matter how brief or insignificant it may feel, can help find this young man and ease the pain of his family and friends.
