Ulverston pilot sparks rescue mission

A GYROCOPTER pilot from near Ulverston sent a scare through residents of a small village in South Cumbria on Saturday when he was mistakenly thought to have crash landed.
Police received a report from a witness at around 1.50pm claiming the gyrocopter had lost control and crashed after it was spotted flying low about two miles north of Bootle.
The caller said the pilot was flying near houses and had come close to hitting power lines as he rapidly descended.
Officers attended the scene to find the male pilot – from Loppergarth outside of Ulverston – had grounded the aircraft amid concerns about flying in the worsening weather.
Emergency services, including a crew from Barrow Fire and Rescue, were mobilised but the pilot was uninjured.
However, when the weather improved enough for him to fly again, a mechanical fault meant the aircraft could not get off the ground and needed to be transported.
It is understood that the pilot was on his way to Cark-in-Cartmel when the incident occurred.

What sort of cig were you having ???????surely any aircraft you see with flames coming from it isnt right no
matter where you live!!maybe it was the flame off your lighter and you thought it was coming from the aircraft!
