TWO people were arrested this morning after a six hour stand off with police.
At 6.35pm yesterday police were called to Schooner Street, Barrow Island, after a man was causing a ‘disturbance’ in the street.
The man then moved into a flat and refused to come out.
The incident is understood to have stemmed from disputes over two dogs, which were later removed from the man’s flat.
At the height of the incident police said there were around 15 officers including negotiators, armed police and officers with riot shields.
The man was arrested at around 1am on suspicion of affray and a woman was arrested from a nearby property on suspicion of dog offences.
The pair remain in police custody today and the investigation is ongoing.

Have your say
"Stand Off"? Opp's There goes the Neighbourhood?
It very much sounds like an over the top exercise, wasting time and money, there was a time when you didn't need a small paramilitary force to deal with situations like this, the various authorities involved should have to reveal the cost of the operation, the police never seem to tighten their belts and a money no object approach to every incident large or small, is the impression they give out.
