A SNAKE was found in a Barrow street and police want to reunite it with its owner.
A corn snake was handed in to Barrow police after it was found outside the Steelworks Hotel, in Buccleuch Street, on Sunday night.
Michael Scott, the grandson of the pub’s landlady Christine Berry, spotted the snake at about 8.30pm.
A crowd from the pub came out to see what was happening.
Mrs Berry, said: “I thought it was a dummy one but this was crawling.
“It’s not something you usually see in the street. Everyone came out of the pub to look at it.
“We were dead shocked and wondered where it had come from.We think it was a baby one.
“Kenny Jones picked it up and it was winding around his arm.
“We put it in an empty ice box. We called the police and Michael took it to the police station.
“We hope the owner comes forward.”
The snake is in the care of the RSPCA, and the owner is being asked to call the charity on 01229 824583.
