Rogues gallery

The Evening Mail has launched its online rogues gallery containing photos of some of south Cumbria’s most notorious jailed criminals.
The area’s top cop, Superintendent Paul Kennedy, has thrown his support behind our initiative and hopes it sends out a strong message to those intent on breaking the law.
From today, we will be highlighting some of the worst offenders in our online gallery and updating it regularly, as people are brought to justice.
Just a selection of those imprisoned in the last 12 months include HGV driver Colin Steele, 41, of Motherwell, who was found guilty of causing the death of 20-year-old Barrow man Pierce Armstrong by dangerous driving on the M6 in March.
He was jailed for four years. Also, see the mug shots of a quartet of drug dealers who kept Barrow’s clubbers supplied with ecstasy, a burglar with 76 previous convictions and a drug dealer who also possessed 310 images of sick child porn.
Supt Kennedy said: “It’s important that the public know what’s happening in our law courts in order to feel confident about our justice system.
“These sentences also send out a message to criminals, that if you commit crime then you will be punished.
“I know from experience, that that it’s not just the criminal that gets punished, it’s also his or her’s family who are also suffer.
“I firmly believe that we all need to take note.
“I fully support the gallery as a way that everyone can see who is responsible for crime in our area.
“I hope that others will take note and understand the shame that comes with committing crime."
