Retired Barrow shipyard boss among Cumbrians honoured by Queen

FOUR people living in South and West Cumbria have been recognised in the New Year's Honours list.

Have your say

Further to my last, I despair of the likes of Sir Cliff, Sir Mick, Sir Elton, and now Sir Bradley, that wasn't my point. I applaud all the local recipients and am very pleased for them.

I don't see how Robert, Morag's, Julian's and Natasha's award fit into the rather churlish category that you describe. Many congratulations to all of them.

There are some people who deserve recognition for their devotion to different causes, then there are some who will create division by their award.
In general their are far too many handed out
just for doing a job,or being an athlete, where'as there are thousands of others doing just the same and receive no recognition for their effort.
Great athletes or footballers of the past, struggled to get an honour, today win something, and you may be in line for a gong.
Far too many being handed out,for turning up 9 till 5.
