Patients return to Ulverston hospice

ST MARY'S Hospice will today start welcoming back the terminally-ill patients evacuated on Thursday night.

Eight patients were moved from the Ulverston hospice at around 7pm when rising floodwaters threatened the centre.

Chief executive Sue McGraw said assessors had been on site and the hospice was ready to move the patients back into their rooms.

She said the swift recovery would not have been possible without the "wonderful" support of the community and emergency services.

"We're back to normal thanks to an army of supporters and volunteers," she said.
