Motorist rescued from car after leaving the road in Millom

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a Millom man from his car after it left the road this morning.

Cumbria police say they were called to reports of a one vehicle road traffic accident at 8.39am, after a yellow Vauxhall Corsa left the road on the A5095 at the Haverigg Lane junction.

The North West Ambulance service and fire crews from Millom and Bootle also attended.

Roger Exley, station manager at Barrow Fire Station, said the vehicle had gone into a field and come to rest on its side - trapping the driver.

A Fire crew entered the vehicle and freed the man, who was checked over by paramedics.

There were no other vehicles involved and the man did not suffer any injuries.
