THE final bevy of beauties vying for votes in the Modelling Competition 2008 have now been unveiled.
In July over 10,000 Evening Mail readers cast their votes online, using coupons from the newspaper or by text.
Last Friday, round two hopefuls took to the stage in front of a sell-out crowd at the Nines, Dalkeith Street, Barrow, in a bid to win a place in September’s grand final.
This month another group of hopefuls are vying for your votes.
Out of this month’s contenders, one girl voted for by Evening Mail readers, by a combination of web votes, texts and coupons, will go through to the grand final.
In round one Sophie Craig, 17, proved a firm favourite with Evening Mail readers. She received almost 1,000 votes to get into the final.
Round two saw Gemma Louise Gilbert pull in more than 3,500 votes to secure her coveted spot.
Photographer Mike Kells, who is also a judge in the competition, said: “It has been a delight working with so many confident applicants in this years competition, our team have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic characters.
“The talent of the comp has been the highest we have ever seen and is going to make the final a joy to watch.”
This year the wannabe models are divided into age categories, 16 to 17, 18 to 24, and 25 and over.
One winner from each age category will be selected at the grand final in September.
Each girl will win a one-week holiday to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands, where they will take part in a photoshoot with a team of stylists to create a modelling portfolio.
