Cumbria murder probe continues
Last updated at 09:58, Tuesday, 16 October 2012
DETECTIVES leading a Cumbria murder investigation are continuing to piece together the circumstances which led to a man's death.
Piotr Kulinski, 32, who was living in Carlisle but originated from Poland, died soon after 6am on Sunday.
On arrival at the scene in Arnside Road, Carlisle, paramedics attended to Mr Kulinski, who is believed to have been stabbed, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
House to house enquiries have been completed, four vehicles have been seized for forensic examination, five premises have been searched and members of the public have spoken to investigating officers.
Six people have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody.
Warrants of further detention have been obtained from Carlisle Magistrates Court to keep the five suspects who were arrested first in custody.
Police are encouraging police to come forward and speak to officers about the circumstances leading up to the incident
DCI Paul Duhig said: “We believe that some members of the Polish community are aware of what happened to escalate a situation which ended in tragic circumstances.
"We are offering support to any member of the public who has information which could assist in the investigation.
"It is vital that we piece together everything which happened in order to gain a clear picture of the events which unfolded that led to Mr Kunlinski’s death."
Anyone who has any information which could assist the investigation should ring Cumbria Police on 101 or speak to a local police officer.
They can also ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
