M6 north of Southwaite re-opened after bullocks recovered

CUMBRIA police have re-opened a section of the M6 which closed temporarily after a landrover towing a trailer of bullocks overturned.
The vehicle was travelling on the northbound carriageway of the M6 just north of Southwaite when the incident happened at around 11.40am.
Emergency services and a local vet attended the scene to assist with moving the animals safely.
The driver of the vehicle, a 63-year-old man from the Penrith area, was treated by ambulance staff at the scene and was taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle to be treated for minor injuries.
The four bullocks were all unhurt and were taken away in another trailer.
The police had to close the motorway to allow the animals to be moved, and to clear the scene. The road was reopened at 2pm.
Officers would like to thank motorists for their patience and co-operation during the incident.
