Lakes fish and chip shop blaze

FIREFIGHTERS spent more than 10 hours tackling a fish and chip shop blaze in Bowness.
The A592 in Bowness was closed while crews dealt with the fire at Vinegar Jones fish and chip shop.
A Cumbria Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said eight crews, including Barrow, Windermere and Kendal, had been called to the scene at 10.30am.
The spokeswoman said the fire had now been fully extinguished and the last crew left the scene just after 8pm.
The fire on the ground and first floor was extinguished this morning but crews used the Aerial Ladder Platform unit, from Barrow, after it had spread to the roof this afternoon.
See Monday's Evening Mail for more information.
