Hundreds raised for Ulverston playground

THE Ulverston community has rallied together after a playground was plagued by vandalism and a much loved play-castle was destroyed.

The fundraiser at the newly refurbished Lancastrian, in Ulverston, was a sell-out.

Both Lesley Godwin and Lesley Spencer joined forces to organise the fundraiser last Saturday.

After seeing the effects of the arson attack on the playground, they decided to bring friends and neighbours together and organise the event to better their community.

Lesley Godwin said: “We wanted to raise some money to help to rebuild what was lost and for the Craftsmen’s Community Fund to get insurance for the playground.”

With the collective sale of tickets about 70 people attended and helped to raise money to be donated to the Craftsman’s Community Fund for the upkeep of the local playground. Enjoying entertainment from Steve Silver and with tickets bought for the raffle, the visitors of the Lancastrian managed to raise £210 for the rebuild of the playground.

The event was a successful and great night for the residents of the community who attended.

The people of the local area hope the funds raised from the event will soon be put to good use on the playground.
