Flooding forces closures in Barrow
Last updated at 10:47, Wednesday, 03 October 2012
HEAVY flooding overnight has forced premises in Barrow to close.
Newbridge House Pupil Referral Unit, in Ewan Close, was closed today following the downpours amid safety fears.
A spokeswoman from Cumbria County Council said the flooding had caused problems with the electricity and that it needs to be made safe before it can reopen.
Meanwhile Barrow Archive and Local Studies Centre, in Duke Street, will be closed until Tuesday October 9 at the earliest due to damage caused by a leak in the searchroom roof.
A statement on the Cumbria County Council website has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
It is not yet clear whether the pupil referral unit will be open on Thursday.
