Blues band heads for Zeffirelli’s

BEGGAR Joe are back at Zeffirelli’s for another live show tomorrow night.

The highly-rated Manchester blues quintet played the Ambleside venue back in October, while frontman Jon Kenzie has returned on a number of occasions with his solo show and as part of Stevie Williams’s live band.

The fast-rising group, fronted by the Dylan-esque vocalist, have built up an international following for their unique take on the blues and soul traditions.

Last year’s self-titled debut album went to number one in Switzerland, number seven in Austria and New Zealand and debuted and number four in the UK iTunes blues album charts, on the back of a handful of great reviews but mainly through word of mouth.

Their ability to blend elements of English blues against jazzy tones has earned them rapturous praise from international press, and the show tomorrow night is a chance to see the band in a much more intimate venue to that which you’d usually find them playing.

The show starts at 8.30pm and entrance is free.
