Family pays tribute to 'dearly loved' Barrow man

POLICE have confirmed the identity of a man who was found dead on the Snab Point sands at Walney on Saturday afternoon.

Paul Thomson, 38, of Parker Street, Barrow was located by the Liverpool Coast Guard after being reported missing from Piel Island.
Mr Thomson's family described him as "immensely proud of his daughter" and how he was "dearly loved" by all who knew him.
"The family and friends of Paul are shocked and saddened by his tragic death," a statement from the family said.
"Paul was a dearly loved dad, son, brother and partner who will be sadly missed."
Mr Thomson was believed to have been camping on the island it is thought he attempted to walk back over the sands towards Barrow.
